Train to Be a Coach and Change Your Life

A few years back I was looking for a way to dream a bigger dream for myself. I had been to a few self-help seminars and New Age fairs but I had yet to decide on an occupation. I wanted to be a counsellor or therapist of some kind but I did not see how I was going to be able to afford to go back to school for psychology or a healing modality and also manage my bills. Then I discovered that I could train to be a coach while at the same time receiving all of the therapeutic and inspiring benefits that I would eventually be giving my future clients at the same time.

The beautiful thing about this particular ambition is that when you train to be a coach you are not qualified to practice until you have truly dealt with your own baggage and your emotional and mental blocks. You reinvent yourself as happy, secure and with an effective personality.

During the training process you must learn how to be completely accountable for the choices that you make in life. Do you know how shocked I was to learn during my initiation into the world of life-coaching to find out that I had actually chosen most of the miseries that had served to set me back in the past? One of the hardest things to do is to accept the fact that you can choose to be happy. This type of contentment comes from the knowledge that you can select the thoughts that inform your feelings and thus transform your perspective of life.

For many people change does not come easily and I was once in that group. I am not so sure that just visiting a therapist could have done for me what a complete immersion in the principles of life-coaching did in the long run. For one thing I had to completely clear my emotional, mental and spiritual state of anything that could be projected onto a client and sabotage the transformative process. Furthermore, the fact I was in a course that was training me for a new career kept me constantly challenged and questioning of my motives, my intentions and my goals. Who knew that making such an effort to help others would result in such positive change for myself? I transformed from a needy, stuck and lost person into one who was independent, fearless and focused on achieving positive, measurable results.

Before I decided to train to be a coach I knew that I felt most fulfilled when I was helping others and now I know that I am really having a positive impact on the lives of others by applying proven, ethical principles towards helping others conquer their own blocks and dare make their dearest dreams a reality!
